The Wright Brothers National Memorial

This is the site of the world's first controlled powered flight by the Wilbur and Orville Wright on December 17, 1903. Explore the Visitor Center that features full-scale reproductions of the Wright 1903 Powered Flyer. Dogs must be on leashes, and the leashes must not exceed six feet in length.
Jockey's Ridge State Park

Jockey's Ridge is the largest living sand dune on the East Coast. Dogs must be on leashes, and the leashes must not exceed six feet.
Nags Head Woods Preserve

You may bring your leashed dog on the quiet gravel road running through the Nags Head Woods Preserve; however, pets of any kind are not allowed on the trails. Dogs must be on leashes, but there is no length requirements.
Fort Raleigh National Historic Site

Here, the first English settlement -- the legendary Lost Colony of Roanoake Island -- was founded in 1587 by Sir Walter Raleigh. Dogs must be on leashes, and the leashes must not exceed six feet in length.
